Choose GOTR during SECA enrollment

Did you know that if you are a state employee you can donate to Girls on the Run through SECA and their payroll deduction? SECA, the State and University Employees Combined Appeal, provides employees with the opportunity to contribute to a number of charities in the State of Illlinois. When SECA’s enrollment period starts on September 5th, please consider selecting GOTR of Central Illinois. SECA enrollment will be open until October 31st. If you have any questions about the SECA enrollment period, please visit the SECA website.
If you are not a state or university employee, you can still donate to GOTR through United Way of Central Illinois’payroll deduction. Please write Girls on the Run of Central Illinois in on their payroll deduction form.
If your company does not participate in SECA or the United Way payroll deduction, you can donate directly to GOTR. With your recurring payment, you become a member of our Pacesetter Club

Support our girls with the “Power of One”

enewsquote
“GOTR helped me become more confident!”
At Girls on the Run, we know how one program changes lives, one at a time. Whether as a program participant, family member, or coach, we have seen the positive change our program has on our community.

All donations to our Power of One campaign will support scholarships for girls this fall. Without scholarship funding, girls in central Illinois will have a harder time handling life’s stressors, like bullying or managing their emotions. This is where you come in. You can give girls the opportunity to empower themselves, make new friendships, and become a happier, healthier girl through our program.

“GOTR is the first program that has allowed me, as a mom, to participate directly with my daughter. GOTR presented physical, social and emotional health in a very fun way for the both of us!” – GOTR mom and coach.

Help us provide scholarships to our girls this fall by donating to the Power of One campaign.

2018 Girls on the Run Founder’s Scholarship Winner

Each year, our alumnae are eligible to apply for the Girls on the Run Founder’s Scholarship through the Community Foundation for the Land of Lincoln. The applicant must explain how her GOTR experience has influenced her choices made in high school and include her volunteer efforts, pursuit of her dream career, how she focuses on her health, or how she maintains her inner confidence. The scholarship was created by GOTRCI founder Deb Shultz in October of 2013.
This year’s recipient is Madeline Fellhauer and she received $1,500 in funding for college. She participated in our program at Our Saviour School in Jacksonville in 2011. Read her scholarship application essay here.

Celebrity Bartender in Springfield

We had a record setting Celebrity Bartender season. Last month we held two Celebrity Bartender events, one in Peoria and one in Springfield. In competitive spirit, the Springfield Battle of the Gyms took the challenge to raise more than Peoria’s $2,324 in tips, and succeeded.
Springfield’s Celebrity Bartender event was held on June 21, 2018 at Brickhouse Grill and Pub. Six gyms swapped out the weights for beer glasses and competed head to head to be named hourly winner and overall champion. The overall champion for the evening was RinoWorx Fitness with $1,000 total in tips. We were wowed by the support of everyone who participated and donated that evening with a total of $3,754 going to scholarships. Thank you so much to everyone who supported the gyms, the bartenders and GOTR!

Celebrity Bartender in Peoria raised $2,324 for GOTR scholarships!

We had our first Celebrity Bartender event in Peoria on June 7th at Bearded Owl Brewing. Each hour, two gyms competed against each other to see who would come out the winner. Of the six gyms that competed, Tony Schoedel from CrossFit Peoria was victorious and the overall winner with $883 in tips! Thanks to our wonderful bartenders and their supporters for donating $2,324 which is enough to fund an entire GOTR team!

We would also like to present an Energy Award to Arron McCall at CrossFit North Peoria. Arron received the second highest amount with $838 in tips. However, he was so close to reaching $1,000 that CrossFit North Peoria donated another $162 to GOTR! Arron also challenged himself and his gym to complete one burpee for every dollar he received in tips

Pictures from the event can be seen on our Facebook page.
