All the ways you can help…
- Become a Coach! Coaches are needed at each site to motivate and inspire as they deliver the GOTR curriculum to program participants. You do not need to be a runner or a female in order to become a Coach, just your enthusiastic, positive spirit! All coaches are required to attend Girls on the Run coach training (40 minute online training + 4.5 hour in person training) as well as be CPR certified prior to the start of the season. The time commitment for this role is twice a week (90 minutes each day) throughout the season as well as attending the end of season Community 5k.
- Support a team as a Practice Partner! The role of the Practice Partner is to attend lessons to cheer on the girls and provide extra encouragement and camaraderie throughout the season as well as during our 5k. Practice Partners do not need to attend New Coach Training and do not deliver the lessons. The time commitment for this role is typically one lesson per week (90 minutes) throughout the season as well as attending the end of season Community 5k.
- Volunteer at one of our Community 5k events! Each Girls on the Run season culminates in a community 5k at Lincoln Land Community College. This celebratory event includes all program participants from the season, their coaching teams, parents, siblings, other family members and community supporters. Each season we need nearly 125 volunteers to ensure the day runs smoothly. Next season, the Community 5k will be Saturday, May 20th with shifts starting as early as 6:30am and as late as 10:00am. Most shifts are between two and four hours long.
- Join a committee! We are always looking for motivated individuals to join our Special Events, Fundraising and 5k committees. Most committees meet once per month and assist with two to three events per year. If you are interesting in joining a committee, please email Jennifer Sublett at email@example.com.
We can’t count the ways our volunteers, supporters and committee members have helped us continue to grow our program! You inspire us and our girls, and we thank you immensely.
