Make a Difference: Volunteer!

Girls on the Run is looking for enthusiastic, positive individuals to help lead our teams this season! As a coach or practice partner, you are going to learn all about the things that make each one of your girls unique and special. You will see the incredible strengths the girls possess and support them as they develop the skills they need to pursue their dreams. By volunteering with GOTR, you will give girls tools to reach their limitless potential.

Each season, our program succeeds with the help of hundreds of volunteer coaches and practice partners. Not a runner? That’s okay! The only requirement to coaching is a commitment to the healthy development of young girls through compassion, enthusiasm, and positivity. Each team meets twice a week for 10 weeks and each lesson is 75 minutes long. Volunteers can choose from two roles on the team: coach or practice partner.

Coaches implement the lessons and lead the team through the season. All coaches receive quality GOTR Coach Training as well as a detailed curriculum and materials to help implement our program. Coaches are required to be at least 18-years-old, be CPR certified (provided by GOTR), and be able to commit to at least one lesson per week as well as the Community 5k on November 5th.

Practice Partners assist coaches during lessons by cheering on the girls and providing extra encouragement throughout the season. Practice Partners must be at least 16 years old and be able to commit to at least 8 lessons per season, as well as the Community 5k on November 5th.
